Gurudev was never interested in writing a book or a commentary on a spiritual text. However, he has replied in writing to many letters from his seekers. An idea came to one seeker to collect these letters and preserve the wisdom within them. The first small book of extracts from Gurudev’s letters was printed in Hindi in 1992. In 2007 the collecting of letters was taken up by another group of seekers.

Daily quote from letters

Human life

Acquiring human birth is very difficult. There is no bigger sin or misfortune than gaining it but then finishing it up like an animal - spending one’s time just in eating and drinking - indulging in sex and other enjoyments or temptations - and showing the emotions of anger and greed.

The result was 'The spiritual diary' which contains 366 extracts from his letters, written in Hindi and put under various topics. A year later a third 'Spiritual diary' was produced containing extracts from his letters in English. This is the version presented on this page.

Gurudev Shri O. Sharma

Circumstances

  • Situations and events, which are generally branded as evil or negative or degrading and in some cases they retard or rather, appear to retard spiritual progress of the aspirant. But this is not the whole truth about such situations and events. They have positive and beneficent side also. It is only by passing through such situations and events that the seeker’s strength, real progress and faith are tested and he/she is prepared for higher heights to climb.
  • We are left alone not only because others (upon whom we so much rely) do not want to be with us but also because sometimes even our most trusted ones cannot possibly be with us. All are conditioned by circumstances and circumstances compel us to face the grim battle of life single-handed when those who we really want to share our struggle are compelled by circumstances to stand and stare only at our plight.
  • Every situation is a test for a sincere seeker on the path. Such situations have God’s hidden mercy in them as they reveal the real inner state of the seeker and remove self-conceived illusions about one’s evolution.
  • Only Truth liberates and true seeker should feel thankful to situations and people helping growth in greater and greater Truth - ‘asato ma sad gamaya’ - from untruth to Truth be the march.
  • Remember that ordinary lives have nothing but ordinary problems: only the chosen ones of the Almighty are confronted with extraordinary situations. This makes them fit to carry burdens which others cannot. As regards anybody’s threats to kill, molest or torture, this is all manifestation of ego of the mortals. Life and death are topics below our standard to worry about.
  • When we try to cope with new situations everyday and accept new challenges, particularly those which shake us emotionally, we evolve towards realisation of our spiritual goal of life.
  • Emotional situations are unavoidable steps of our journey. The pathway to our destination passes through them.
  • Do not be disheartened when such (emotional) situations spring up from nowhere and completely unexpected quarters. All this is a play of nature to shake, test and also mature the seeker. There is always a hidden purpose of nature in all these events.
  • Observe keenly your own self, your inner anguish and agitation and remember that God can put you in a worse situation. In every situation, therefore, learn to thank God rather than accuse Him. The more you will be able to do so the more you will be able to have patience and tolerance in life which gives birth to peace and happiness.

Companionship

  • Friendship in the case of a genuine spiritual seeker has no purpose except help in spiritual growth. Nobody can be truly spiritual without transformation of lust into love.
  • It is not easy to remain alone, by oneself only, without company. But one who wants to evolve on the true spiritual path has to become capable to remain alone, though loneliness is not essential.
  • Marriage may be somebody’s necessity, but for somebody else it may be better to avoid it. All such things differ from individual to individual.
  • Different seekers have different needs for their self-development. For some, marriage may be a need but for others it may not be. The important thing is the ‘Law of Karma’ - destiny. All are bound by the ‘Law of Karma’.

Destiny

  • Destiny (prarabdh) is already there pre-decided for everybody. Every human being’s success in life lies in exploring one’s ‘swadharm’ (one’s own duty) during the course of weaning out one’s prarabdh.
  • Nobody can prolong or shorten anybody’s life. Such doubts arise due to non-understanding of cosmic truth. Life span is a constituent of destiny and destiny is already pre-decided.
  • All situations and sufferings are part of destiny of all of us. Nobody is an exception to destiny. Finish the destiny part with patience and in remembrance of God.
  • Mysterious are the ways and hidden is His grace in all His dispensations and no human being ever born on Earth can escape the destiny part of karma.
  • Worldly events and situations like marriage, health, employment and prosperity etc. are already pre-decided, as they are part of one’s destiny. Nobody can have these things before their appointed time and nobody can stop them when their due time has come.
  • Only ignorance about individual and Cosmic existence and evolution makes human beings worried about worldly matters. The anxiety and worry are not unnatural as ignorance is a part of human existence. But to try to tear off the veil of ignorance is and should be the dignity of human existence.
  • Problems in human life never end till Self-realisation and God experience. Whatever is part of your destiny will definitely happen at its own time. Try to surrender to Him who looks after all and everybody.
  • All major events of human life are already pre-destined. Nobody can alter them. Wisdom lies in taking life as it comes and in remembering God so that by His grace one is enabled to cross over this ocean of mortal existence full of sorrow, pain and miseries.
  • Everyone has to accept pre-decided destiny. Wisdom lies in making efforts for good actions in the present while accepting ups and downs of the flowing current of destiny.

Divine Grace

  • The Master knows fully well who needs what, and which desire of anybody should be fulfilled or should not be. At many occasions He does not fulfil some of our desires, because He knows that the fulfilment of those desires would bring our downfall. Therefore, whatever He does, one should learn to live happily with it.
  • Only a real thirst is needed. God is always eager to push souls onto the path of liberation.
  • In this infinite planning of God, there is a definite time and arrangement for all matters. By His grace, the real aim of human life will also be definitely fulfilled at the right time.
  • If a person with a sincere heart has the desire to make even one step towards God, then God Himself starts making plans form marching ten steps towards him.
  • Even when living with others, one sometimes has an inner feeling of being alone and by oneself. Sometimes, even when living alone, one has the capacity to accept the whole world as one’s own. In time such elements are enhanced. Such a human being becomes competent to participate in the ever on-going Lila or play of the Lord.
  • From time to time, God himself fulfils all needs, may they be worldly or spiritual. If a man maintains patience in every situation and sincerely performs his duty, then God definitely solves every problem. Having full faith in the in-dwelling Lover, go on walking the journey of life. That greatest of Lovers looks after everyone in all respects.
  • His work is the fulfilment of our needs and the provision of protection to His devotees. When such a Lover exists, why should one worry at all?
  • God’s planning is always beneficial. It is due to ignorance and inability to fully understand His planning that man gets worried and aggrieved.
  • God is to be thanked for every situation that He presents. Compassion and love always exist in all the planning of the Divine, and whatever He does is always of benefit to human beings.
  • God definitely grants success to men in every activity which they do with remembrance of God and pure motives.
  • The Ego of one’s own intelligence and cleverness does not disappear very quickly. Only by being very merciful does God destroys this ego through involvement in circumstances. Therefore one has to be thankful to God in every situation.
  • The same God who creates the circumstances for us, out of compassion helps us through the circumstances. This is the pattern of human evolution on this planet of Earth.
  • Everything happens by Divine grace and human beings can at best be only mediums for that Grace. Therefore have faith in God and remember Him as often as you can. He alone helps and nobody else. Serve, mediate, pray and love.
  • God does not value the personal traits of an individual. God values only love for Him. He knows everything and His grace purifies those who remember and love Him.
  • He is Infinite Ocean of kindness, love and compassion. Try what you can and leave the rest to Him. He makes possible that which remains impossible for human efforts to achieve. Have faith in Him. He never forsakes the faithful.
  • God alone is faultless and we all human beings have our own weaknesses. His mercy and Grace, however, ennoble us more than our own efforts.
  • Everything depends upon God’s mercy. Meditation and prayer are more effective and powerful than any other thing in the world.
  • No one can control the outer events of life, only the inner self becomes peaceful for all times and immune to all outer events when the Grace dawns upon a human being.
  • With a carefree attitude, go on performing your duty. It is verily God’s infinite grace that not all human desires are fulfilled. If all the desires of human beings were fulfilled, then, along with bringing misfortune to himself, he would also continue being a fool!
  • You have the infinite Grace of God over you. Therefore, remembering Him, chanting his name and thinking about Him, go on performing happily the tasks given to you. The secrets of many matters will be known to you after several years.
  • Along with being just, God is merciful. It would be almost impossible, in relation to the possibility of human redemption, were he to be only just. It is due to His Mercy that redemption comes to sinful human beings, along with their purification by His justice. Therefore, one should go on remembering God as much as possible.

Divine Love

  • In Divine love there is no place for any complaint. Otherwise God’s Lilla or Play is very deep, and whatever He does, human fortune is always hidden in it.
  • Drink the nectar of Divine love everyday, in fact, all the time. Remember Him always. He is full of love and compassion, your thirst from times immemorial will be quenched by Him.
  • God exists everywhere but His presence is felt by those only whose heart is full of love. In fact there is no difference between God and Love.
  • God is always with us in our heart as „Love“. But we fail to experience Him because of many worldly desires, cravings, attachments, passions and foolish ego covering that pure love in us.
  • Permanent peace and happiness exist in Divine love only. Follow the path resolutely and realise the divinity hidden in your own existence.
  • His compassion and Love are infinite. He never disappoints His true devotees.
  • Passion and attachment degrade us and create bondage. Divine love liberates us and makes us Divine. May God enlighten your path.
  • Individual self-efforts never succeed in purifying human beings deserving Divine love. It is His compassion alone that enables us to have entry in the chamber of His purifying Love.
  • Life without Divine love is meaningless. Divine love is not experienced as long as we are slaves to worldly desires, passion, lust and ego.

Divine Plan

  • God alone is great in this universe. In fact, the universe is nothing but His playground. Those who are willing to participate in His play remain happy. Those who make their own plans are bound to be unhappy.
  • God has already chalked out a program for every soul. But whether the soul uses or misuses the opportunities available in that program has to be individual responsibility of that particular soul.
  • Whatever is the planning of God is always in our best interest and should be thankfully accepted as His planning. Sometimes we don’t understand the hidden meaning of His planning due to our ignorance as many times our own children fail to understand our planning which is in their best interest.
  • Life is nothing but a journey. It is a playful journey if we learn to play according to the directions given by the Divine ‘conductor’ of this grand show. We have to learn to give up our own divisions of things and events into good and bad, desirable and undesirable. All is His play and everything and every event is a part of His Divine plan. To accept totality is to realise our immortality.
  • God’s design always prevails over human plans and that is also always for human betterment. Those, who by God’s grace have a deeper insight into the working of this cosmic play of forces, thank God for every event and happening. Only the ill informed complain against and regret things contrary to their desires.

Faith

  • Faith is the greatest factor in human life and everything is possible through faith.
  • There is always a hidden purpose in all these events of life. The purpose is known to God only. We human beings, conditioned by our worldly desires and limited vision, forget rather too soon that our Father knows what is best for us. It is only a question of our faith in unfaltering wisdom of our Lover, Father and Guide.
  • If our faith is shaky we have nothing but gloom, frustration and desperation in life. When the faith becomes unshakable we start having peace and happiness irrespective of our circumstances and outer events of life.

God

  • When deep and unbearable thirst is there the omnipresent Grand-guide (God) provides water through His innumerable mysterious ways and means. He being present equally everywhere is capable to look after everybody according to one’s need of individual growth.
  • He is the greatest and the only true lover. Those who love Him are loved by Him infinitely more than anybody else is capable to love.
  • Remember that God’s ways are always full of Mercy and Compassion. Only ignorant human mind finds fault with His ways.
  • Remember Him and do you duty. He will make your life meaningful and worthy of His grace. He never forsakes anybody coming to Him with sincerity.
  • He sees love and not techniques. God does what human beings fail to do. Remember Him and pray to Him. He alone purifies human beings.
  • Those who walk towards Him one step, find that He walks towards them ten steps. But He wants that the one step towards Him is sincere and single minded. He is the ocean of love and always eager to embrace everybody, but His embrace becomes available only to those who love Him and Him only.
  • God is most kind, compassionate and loving. He definitely fulfils right and pure desires of His devotees.
  • God (the Overself) is everywhere to help and guide every sincere seeker and if a living master is not available, the Grand-Master (God) always helps and guides in His innumerable mysterious ways.
  • Love for humanity is also love for God. God is not separate from this world. The Creator and the creation are not two. But it takes time for human mind to understand all this.
  • God hidden in everybody’s heart is the real guide and the real light. Inconceivable are His ways of showering his mercy on human beings and unfathomable is His compassion.
  • His dispensation is always in the best interest of human beings. But human beings may not always know as to what is best for them. He knows better in what lies our good than we know it for our own self.
  • The Boatman is very wise, loving and compassionate. He very well knows how to sail the boat and carry safely those passengers to another shore who having faith in Him have embarked on His boat.
  • He is very wise, loving and compassionate. He is so trustworthy that not even once through aeons did ever a mishap happen regarding those passengers who faithfully entrusted themselves to His care.
  • God’s presence is everywhere and in all activities. The question is only of having faith in Him. And because He very much loves His devotees He ignores their faults, weaknesses and foolish doings also.
  • We have a right to unite with the Lord just as every child has a birthright to sit in the lap of his/her parents.
  • The Lord in fact always waits to have us in His embrace. The only barrier between Him and us consists of our mundane desires.
  • Relationship with God is not by knowing Him because nobody can know Him fully. Relationship with Him is just by believing that He is everywhere and always.
  • Those who start loving Him, just by believing in His presence (though not knowing Him), begin to have His guidance, help and love automatically.

Health and illness

  • Health and illness are both parts of human existence. Many times illness and adversity are inherently more beneficial to human beings. It is during those phases that one remembers God more sincerely. Every aspect and event of life, therefore, should be taken as Compassion and Grace of the Lord.
  • The only purpose of human life is to experience the indwelling Divine. Unwise and unfortunate are those who misuse their health in worldly pleasures. Wise and fortunate ones use health and illness both for fulfilment of the only aim of human life.
  • One has to grow into experiencing the peace and bliss of the immutable spirit through the instrumentality of a healthy body and calm mind.
  • It is verily a mockery of human life when a truly healthy man, instead of using his health of the attainment of Self-realisation, starts misusing it in various worldly activities and for the enjoyment of pleasures. He only remembers God when he falls ill and feels helpless. It is in this way that this invaluable human life goes to waste.
  • As well as work, there is also a need for a proper regime of sleep and rest. Otherwise the proper functioning of the body is reduced in the long run.

Human life

  • Only human life affords an opportunity to go beyond dualities of pain and pleasure and realise permanent peace and bliss of “Atman”. Only they are lucky who strive for it. All others waste away their precious opportunity in trifles.
  • Human life is meant for self-reformation and self-knowledge. If a person does not make efforts for self-improvement then life is purpose-less. It is human life only that the greatest bliss, permanent peace and true love of God can be experienced.
  • This human life is an opportunity for exploring and manifesting divinity hidden in us. Those who engage themselves in this noblest adventure of human life are fortunate. Only that human life is worthwhile in which there is an effort for experiencing Divine love.
  • Human life is meant for Self-realisation and experiencing our Divine nature and Divine love, peace and happiness always present in our own existence. Nothing is to be acquired from outside everything exists within us.
  • Precious human life is wasted in running after worldly objects of sensual enjoyment ignoring the ever-lasting treasure of infinite bliss existing within our own self. While in fact we are monarchs, by our own ignorance, we become beggars.
  • Life, in fact, is so short a span that man generally is unable even to take stock of it, not to say anything about improving or enriching it. Fortunate is he or she who is blessed with moments of peeping within and praying for becoming what he or she feels they ought to be. All other endeavours are futile unless they are means for the above end.
  • The worth of human life is not measured in years and months and days. It’s worth lies in the efforts made for Self-realisation and enlightenment, no matter whatever its span may be.
  • Even a life of 150 years is useless if it is passed in running after pleasures of senses and body only. And even a life of 20 years is worthwhile and truly successful if it is passed in seeking real truth and beauty of existence.
  • The only purpose of human life is to follow His word - “Give your mind to me, worship me and bow to me. Doing so you will come to me alone, I truly promise you; for you are exceptionally dear to me.“ (Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 18, Verse 65)
  • Life itself is the greatest teacher and a person learns more through experiences of life than through books and sermons.
  • Life doesn’t run according to man made plans. It has its own course. Those, who are ready to accept life in all its shades and varieties without murmur and grumbling, are the only deserving ones and to whom life opens up its meaning and hidden secrets. Weaklings and cowards don’t deserve the precious thing that human life is.
  • Human life is primarily or rather solely for one and one thing only: Self-realisation and God experience. No human being can ever be happy without achieving this aim in life.
  • Life is an ever-flowing stream. Nothing can stop it’s flow until the last day of existence. The only wisdom is to understand its purpose and experience its true nature. When its true nature is experienced, we realise our immortality in the midst of mortality. If you want that your life may not be wasted then follow the path of God-realisation.
  • Action, initiative and planning have their important place in human life and they are never to be given up. Only one has to learn detachment for the fruits of action.
  • Human life is not precious but it is invaluable. Something invaluable should not be wasted in trifles. May God enlighten your path.
  • Our expectations that our particular action will and must bear particular results are based on nothing but our ignorance about fundamentals of human life.
  • Life is always unpredictable. The unexpected is bound to happen in it not once but several times. Those who wish and want for the expected are bound to have misery, annoyance and frustrations.
  • Human life is a bundle of contradictions here on Earth. Everybody wants to be happy but happiness eludes more often than not in lives of majority. The layers of ignorance are so thick and so numerous that even the wise are duped. Shelter at the feet of the Lord is the only refuge and rescue here.
  • Acquiring human birth is very difficult. There is no bigger sin or misfortune than gaining it but then finishing it up like an animal - spending one’s time just in eating and drinking - indulging in sex and other enjoyments or temptations - and showing the emotions of anger and greed.
  • The most purified form of Divine love (and the Divine himself) is hidden in that same body and mind, which suffers from sexual desire, anger, greed, illusion and other basic instincts.
  • All the activities of this world take place according to God’s planning. The main cause of human misery is ignorance. Human beings consider themselves as the doers of activities, instead of the instruments of the Divine will, for performing duty that is handed down as part of the Divine planning. Whoever assumes ‘doership’ has become a sufferer. The reason is that in ‘doership’ there is ego and an egoist invariably has to suffer.
  • Without caring for anything, you should accept everything in life as it comes. God’s Lila (play) and compassion are limitless. Leaving everything to God, simply keep performing with devotion and your present duty. Nobody except God has control over the events of life.
  • Every experiment made and every experience that occurs in life, become steps towards that greatest experiment and greatest experience that is the whole purpose of human life.
  • Human life is a rare opportunity available for realising the culmination of evolution on earth i.e., to rise above animosity and step in and become one with Divinity. The wise avail the opportunity, while the fools miss it.
  • Success and failure may come several times in life but the important thing is not to grieve in failure. To have equanimity in all circumstances is the real achievement of life.
  • There are two aspects to human life - the outer (worldly) and the inner (spiritual). Neither of the two is to be neglected. Through harmonious development of both is understood and realised the purpose and aim of existence.
  • In order to make this human life meaningful, go on marching happily on the journey of life. So far, on the planet Earth, the number of travellers taking this journey for achieving the true aim of life is not large. Fortunate are they who start this journey.
  • Human life is a continuous series of trials. The only purpose of all trials is to awaken the individual from slumber of ignorance and motivate him/her towards the real purpose of human life i.e., “Self-realisation” and “God-experience”.
  • Nature only gives us birth. However, we have to make life through our own efforts and with discrimination. For those who after birth disregard the life-making process, their birth itself is pointless. They alone are worthy of being called human beings who, having understood the difference between birth and life, continue to make efforts towards real success in this life’s journey.
  • Life is a journey and in every journey there are possibilities of stumbling. Stumbling is pardonable if one sincerely learns the lesson for the future.
  • Human life is the most precious opportunity for realising hidden Divinity within. Nobody can realise this aim of life without withdrawing from endless race of pleasures of the senses in the outside world, and turning one’s attention and energy to one’s inner world through meditation.
  • The art of growing old with grace and charm can never be learnt by heart unless it is begun well before youth comes to an end. True wisdom, therefore, lies in harnessing energy of youth for cultivation of virtues which makes all life graceful and charming.
  • Every human being has many faults and weaknesses. The important thing is the determination to remove those faults and weaknesses and make oneself ready for enlightenment and Divine life. Those who sincerely try to improve themselves are always helped by God.
  • Human life has only one purpose: experiencing God hidden in our heart. God exists everywhere but only they experience Him whose heart is full of love.

Laws of spiritual growth

  • Always give some percentage of our income to charity.
  • Respect elders and love and forgive youngsters.
  • Take the world as manifestation of God Himself and thus serve God by serving the world.
  • Have a daily prayer and remembrance of God.
  • Find your own faults and try to remove them.
  • Try to see only virtues in others and never to find their faults.
  • Sincerely feel grateful for anything done by others for us.
  • Never talk about any good thing that you were able to do for others.

Prayer

  • Pray to God for removal of your shortcomings. He is infinite Ocean of Compassion and He very quickly redeems those who approach Him with a loving heart.
  • We can only pray for His mercy and Grace. It is more during adversity rather than prosperity that He gives us opportunity to realise His nearness.
  • Pray to God only. He and He alone helps. Nobody can do anything for anybody unless God the Almighty so designs.
  • He is very kind. Pray for imploring His kindness. True payers never go unheard and unresponded.
  • Pray to God for removal of weaknesses in life. Sincere prayer solves all problems.

Problems and challenges

  • One should remember that the so called uncongenial environment more often than not affords better opportunity for spiritual growth than the so called congenial and favourable circumstances.
  • The difficulties also have their role in life of a seeker - they make him/her stronger and eligible for grater summits to scale.
  • Problems in the human life never end till one is not enlightened and one does not experience God and His divine love.
  • The problems simply change their faces and assume different names but they are always there. Whole life-span passes away like that in struggle and strife and the day of death comes without realisation of our true aim of human existence.
  • Life is a continuous process and different things and situations develop in the lives of all seekers of truth at different times. The sincere seeker learns from every situation and thereby prepares herself / himself for the great event of Self-realisation.
  • When in threatening situations uncontrolled panic overtakes you - in such situations you have to simply remember Him that He is, always and everywhere with you as your true Lover and Protector. His remembrance will solve all problems.
  • Adversity brings us closer to God than felicity. Surrender yourself to Him and He will take care of you.
  • In fact, life means that there must be problems and challenges otherwise there is no possibility of growth, there is no growth except through the process of exertion and efforts for surmounting the apparently insurmountable
  • Even in hardships of human beings is hidden His compassion. Hardships discipline human beings for becoming eligible for receiving His grace.
  • Most of our problems are due to the present state of our minds. The mind is to be disciplined. Physically and mentally, live in the present only -“here and now”.
  • Bigger challenges bring out from within us our dormant capacities and potentials and make us bigger in the end. Accepting challenges and proving ourselves worthy of them is a necessary part of spirituality of my concept.

Sadguru - Spiritual Master

  • Meeting a genuinely spiritual person is always a matter of destiny. In the field of spirituality there is no charted course. Here walking and path finding happen simultaneously.
  • It is only through God’s grace that somebody becomes an instrument of His work in this world. I am always deeply grateful to Him.
  • From my personal point of view, I take all information and events as natural promptings for self-evolution and, therefore, everything a gift of God, to be received not only with gratitude, but smiling as well.
  • His compassion is limitless and His ways of helping human beings unimaginable. He never disappoints any of His true seekers and lovers. He and my love are always with you.
  • My only prayer to Him is not that I may not have failures in the future but that I may become capable to assist some people in getting success.
  • In the case of sincere and deep thirst for spiritual evolution time and space put no hindrance. Personal meeting with the Guru has its own value and that can’t be substituted by anything else. Letters serve very limited purpose in this field.
  • It is true, that to walk over this path by one’s own efforts only, is very difficult and sometimes almost impossible. But you have somebody to help you and guide you also. You are not alone on the path. I am trying and will continue to try the best I can do for you.
  • I can be ready to give all my wisdom and experience to you but can’t become a part of your existence unless you are really eager and sincere to receive, digest and assimilate it.
  • You alone cannot do it, and I alone also cannot do it for you, unless you really want it. And if you have the real thirst for it, no power can stop it from happening to you. God definitely helps those who help themselves.
  • The guru-disciple relationship is not like teacher -student relationship in schools and colleges. A spiritual disciple or seeker has no rights but only privileges granted by the spiritual master due to compassion. Nobody in the world can claim anything from the spiritual master.
  • Life is a continuous process of learning and growth. It is by God’s grace only that I am able to explain spiritual matters to those who come in my contact.
  • Personally I am averse to any such things that amount to glorification of human being and creation of personality, cult and ‘gurudom’. Only God is great and the real Guru and worthy of human adoration and glorification.
  • I am nothing but a petty servant of humanity and servant can’t ignore anything that enhances happiness of those whom he serves.
  • My love and blessings are available for all beings of the world and cosmos, but become accessible only to those who receive them with faith.
  • I might be living away from you physically, yet I am always the nearest one to you. Can there be any place in the whole universe where I am not present? In some form I always live with you and with everyone.
  • Verily, I always live near you, but as yet you are not able to recognise this kind of presence. So far, you are only able to see the form that is visible through your physical eyes. You will come to know my other presences also, after the inner eyes of wisdom are opened through meditation.
  • I have no programme of my own - I do only whatever God requires me to do in a certain place. Therefore, a definite programme is according to God’s will.
  • By God’s grace, I know all that is happening in your inner self and what will happen in the future. Go on walking on the path and God will go on bestowing His grace upon you.
  • Faithfully remembering God, one should go on performing one’s duty. Remaining healthy, prosperous and happy, may you go on developing your devotion to God - this is my only wish for you.
  • Whatever may be your drawbacks, and bad habits, my love and blessings for you will never be any less. In due time, your drawbacks will also disappear. Have no worry - I am always with you.
  • This body is His (God’s own). He may keep it as He wants to. Therefore, it is futile to be worried about my health. Perform your duty, go on making effort for that which alone makes human life successful.
  • Everything given by Him (God) is equally acceptable to me - I accept it happily and with thanks. There is no place for complaint in true love.
  • Every moment I have; my body, mind and material means - my whole life - are intended only for doing God’ work. Therefore, when and where I go, or do not go, is known only to the Master (God). Whatever He orders, I perform it according to His wishes.
  • Though physical nearness of the guide in spirituality is of much value, yet that not being always possible, it is not indispensable for spiritual growth. Spiritual evolution depends more upon the intensity of thirst of the seeker rather than upon any other factor including the guide or “Guru”.
  • I say only this much: that remembering God, one has to experience the fruits of one’s karmas and to go to the feet of the Lord. In this my love and co-operation will always be with you.
  • The guru only tells the path but the disciple has to walk over the path himself / herself. Why should you not be able to take decisions yourself? After all guruji is not going to live like this (physically) for you for all times to come in this ever changing world.
  • My help, love and guidance will be always available to you. There will be no hindrance in that because according to me, God alone is everybody’s Guru. I am nobody’s Guru, I am everyone’s servant.
  • Someday you have to be on your own feet independently. Of course my spiritual essence and love would always be with you because they are not different from what they are in you.
  • A person starts receiving that much Grace of God, through me, to the extent that he or she starts loving. Everything is done by God. I am only an ordinary instrument of His will.
  • My love can purify anybody who happens to be receptive towards it. I do not weigh the vices or virtues of human beings. I simply care for their receptivity of my pure love.
  • My love is unconditional and infinite. From my side, there can be no change, no matter what relationship or love you have for anyone else in the world. There will be no decrease in my love for you.
  • I have no programme of my own to go to any place or to do anything. Everything depends upon him. He decides and I simply execute His decisions.
  • I know very well your drawbacks and I also know this; that many times you fail to walk over the given path, despite your best efforts. Yet, my help and guidance for you have been there and will always be there, because I love you.
  • God enshrined in everybody’s heart, is the greatest real Guide. Have trust in Him and pray to Him. All guides and gurus are inferior to Him.
  • In all worldly matters, you have to take decisions. Yes, whatever will be your decision in all situations, you will continue to receive my help.
  • My guidance, help and love are always there for everyone who wants to undertake this noblest and greatest adventure of human life.
  • After giving due thought to all your circumstances, you may do whatever appears proper to you. The capacity to take personal decision in personal matters may develop. This is the method of God’s work through me.
  • Divine ways are always unknown. I am simply a tool of his hands. I work whatever and whenever he appoints me to work
  • An expression of thanks to God only will continue to happen from my inner Self. Everything - every event or situation- given by Him is equally dear to me.
  • True spirituality is a “pathless path” - enjoining every seeker to make and find his/her own path by experience. A true guide or master or guru helps the seeker in finding his/her individual path rather than imposing any pre-decided path or doctrine upon him/her.
  • My work is primarily spiritual guidance. Yes, in every circumstance born of your decision, you will as always continue to have my help and power.
  • You are having my guidance through “thought transmission in meditation.” It is an ancient method of giving guidance to seekers from a distance of any magnitude. Time and space can’t be hurdles in true spirituality.
  • Do not waste time and energy any more. Get transformed and be happy till eternity. Don’t miss the God given opportunity. If you don’t listen to me and follow my advice now, in the future you will have nothing except wailing, sobbing and repenting.
  • The work of a spiritual guide and master is the deepest and most delicate in the whole cosmos. Simultaneously he has to function on several different and sometimes inconsistent levels of existence. God alone enables him to do that almost impossible work. It happens because it is God’s work.

Selfless duty

  • All things done selflessly and lovingly are Divine. Gradually you will be able to remove your faults and Divine in you will manifest Himself more prominently.
  • Do your duty towards all as service to God and have His remembrance in your heart all the time. He will definitely take you across this ocean of mortal world.
  • For His experience we pray to Him and whatever we do as our duty in the allotted field we offer the fruits of our actions at His holy feet. Thus step by step our life-journey goes on and one day we reach the destined goal.
  • Charity is essential for true spiritual growth. Selfless service and charity are essential requirements for Self-realisation.

Self-realisation

  • They alone are wise who leave no stone unturned in their efforts for having Self-realisation before decay and death of the mortal body. And nobody knows when that moment of departure from this earth can come. The wise, therefore, are always vigilant and steadfast in their efforts.
  • To realise Divinity of human existence and experiencing God in life is the birth right of human beings.
  • This discordance between the inner life and outer circumstances, the great puzzle for all sensitive persons all over the world, never ends till one realises one’s true self. Self-Realisation / God -experience, therefore, does and must become not the first among several aims of life but the only aim of life.
  • In fact, Self-realisation remains unachievable for those who have a long list of priorities in life. The ‘lane of love’ is too narrow to accommodate more than one in it. Those who love the Ultimate can’t afford flirtation with many.
  • It is all temporary and phenomenal here except the ‘ATMA’ or ‘SELF’, realisation of the ‘SELF’ is the only achievement.
  • This human life has only one purpose - God-Realisation. They alone are fortunate who aspire for this. Human beings can only aspire for this because His experience or realisation by the human beings depends upon His mercy only.
  • When Self-realisation happens in human life, then the conflict of attachment and repulsion ends for that person. After that there remains nothing in life except celebration, bliss, love and service.
  • To serve humanity is to serve God. The creation is not different from the Creator. The two are only different faces of the same eternal Truth.

Service

  • Service is an attitude of mind rather than any specific type of activity. Whatever falls to our share can be done either with selfishness or with an attitude of help and service to others.
  • In selfishness is the predominance of ego while in service exists love. We should therefore, try to perform all our duties motivated by love and not by ego.
  • Serving humanity is serving God and no service can be nobler and more satisfying than helping people in their spiritual journey.
  • Increase in spiritual awareness of one’s existence is the real purpose of human life and he/she is really fortunate who can help humanity in this grandest of all human endeavors.

Shrimad Bhagavad Gita

  • Lord’s holy words in the Bhagavad Gita give us light and encouragement and definite assurance. It is for this reason that reading Gita should be a daily routine.
  • By long, continuous, sincere and persistent study of the Bhagavad Gita, one can know what God is and how to realise Him.
  • What Bhagavad Gita teaches us: activity should of course be as selfless as possible, but even result-oriented activity is far superior to non-activity and inertia.
  • A little study of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita should be undertaken daily. Your circumstances may limit the amount of time you have. If you have no time to study the commentary of the verses of the Gita, then you should at least read the translation of the verse, or verses, as part of your daily routine. A little study of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita should be undertaken daily. Your circumstances may limit the amount of time you have. If you have no time to study the commentary of the verses of the Gita, then you should at least read the translation of the verse, or verses, as part of your daily routine.
  • As much as the student will study this supreme reason (Bhagavad Gita) that much he will reach nearer to God.

Spiritual evolution

  • Everything becomes normal and joy-giving when your ‘inside’ has become normal - free of turmoil of passion and cravings. Nothing in the ‘outside’ can disturb the ‘inside’ when you are a master of the ‘inside’ and all life and existence itself becomes a playground full of festivity and joy.
  • Spiritual evolution needs discipline in all matter - food habits, companionship, work and sleep and sexual relationship.
  • Even if one finds but little progress on the path one should never slacken efforts and one should never stop. Self-discovery being the greatest adventure in human life demands the greatest sacrifice. There is no place for loosing heart on his path.
  • Real spiritual evolution is not a joke. It needs the whole-hearted commitment and totality of efforts that it deserves. It doesn’t happen just by being interested in it.
  • Spiritual evolution happens only when one is ready to stake everything for it - in fact the very existence for it. Just being interested in it is one thing, but to live (and die if needed be) for some cause is another thing. The lukewarm approach is never successful in this field. Water doesn’t boil at less than 100 degrees.
  • One who wants to evolve on the true spiritual path has to become capable of remaining alone. Though loneliness is not essential.
  • The natural psycho-somatic state of human being is the most delicate and complicated thing in the world and for further improvement and evolution, God’s guidance within us through discrimination in daily conduct and prayer are more important than physical techniques like breathing (pranayama) etc.
  • Take life and things as they come and this will deepen your understanding of the evolutionary process and the cosmic arrangement.
  • Most of the people even in the spiritual field have superficial idea about spiritual evolution. There are impurities of physical, astral and causal bodies and many things happen when the process of purification starts - of course one becomes tired and fed up but it should not be forgotten that one is aspiring for the ultimate on earth and, therefore, any price is insufficient for the aim ahead.
  • Neither anybody can help us nor injure us in the least. Aspects of our individual evolutionary process automatically and compulsorily bring us near to or take us away from individuals and situation as per the needs of our evolution.
  • Nothing but repentance and frustrations wait for a person who doesn’t pay heed to this time-tested council and mend in time his/her way of life for spiritual unfoldment of his/her own existence.
  • Self transformation is the noblest and greatest life on this planet of earth. Spirituality of my sort is not just remaining in some monastery and sitting for meditation at scheduled hours and reading some scriptures and doing some activities there. Self transformation demands self sacrifice of the highest grade. Only the chosen few are capable to transform themselves.

Spiritual journey

  • Try to have His remembrance always in your heart and let your duties be consecrated at His feet.
  • All responsibility of falling down or going up is on you. You are free to remain an animal, you are free to be a human being and you are free to become divine. If you don’t put your wholehearted effort, and if you are not ready to sacrifice everything in life, you can’t progress in spirituality.
  • Only those human beings are fortunate who come to know about this path and then walk over it with determination and perseverance. And those who walk do definitely reach their destination one day. “Those who walk will reach, those who seek will find” said Jesus Christ.
  • Both (worldly and spiritual) are to be developed in such a relationship that the outer (physical) ultimately becomes a means for realising the inner (spiritual). Those who follow this path someday transcend the apparent conflict between matter and mind, physical and spiritual.
  • Every journey has tests and no one is allowed to scale higher summits unless the lower heights are successfully conquered.
  • Spiritual journey is never a part time affair or just a “casual hobby” as many people take it to be. It is a life long commitment, a mission of higher importance and requiring utmost sincerity, single minded devotion and maximum effort, that it really deserves. And what at all is the use of human life if there is no spiritual evolution in it? It must therefore be the top priority and if at all possible, the only and exclusive one, in any person’s life.
  • 1) Do not see others’ faults. 2) See your own faults and pray to Him for their removal. 3) Try to serve others and avoid having service from others. 4) Try to be regular in meditation. 5) Try to read some book on spirituality every day. 6) Remember to pray to Him in your heart.
  • See your own faults. See virtues in others. Be kind and tolerant towards others. Serve, meditate and love.
  • Every day must be lived with dedication and gratitude to the divine. “Present” must be the most important and no attention must be paid to the “past” or “future”.
  • Be a vegetarian and a teetotaller. Try to be truthful in all spheres of life. Meditate regularly. Have an attitude of service towards all. Observe your faults and pray to God to remove them.
  • The goal of this journey is realisation of the inner state of our own self-existence whose perfect calmness, joyfulness and lovefulness can’t be disturbed by any external event.
  • “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you” (Mathew 6:33, Bible). Where is the kingdom of God? It’s in our hearts. How to seek it? Through love. How to experience love? Through meditation.
  • The path has many curves, ups and downs, tempting and disgusting vistas, but nothing is insurmountable for indefatigable human will.
  • The impurities of the physical and the mental obstruct manifestation and experiencing of the spiritual. Gradually, as one advances on the yogic path, the obstacles are removed and the spiritual transformation of the whole being starts becoming a reality.
  • Every human being has many faults and weaknesses. The important thing is the determination to remove those faults and weaknesses and make oneself ready for Enlightenment and Divine love.
  • Those who sincerely try to improve themselves are always helped by God.
  • No intelligent person keen to have peace and happiness in life can ignore this path. Take life as it comes and try to give up all expectations. Pray to the indwelling Divine to give peace.
  • Nobody can escape the inexorability of the Law of Karma. Man learns in no way but the hard way of suffering and repentance. Yet, He does not stop from being loving and compassionate towards erring human beings. Such is the pattern of evolution here.
  • It is after gathering experiences of many life-cycles that human mind becomes mature enough to see its own follies. By God’s grace and self exertion those follies are eradicated.
  • Self-justification and self-rationalisation are capable to deceive most intelligent human beings. Those who have the courage to face and admit truth become eligible for spiritual journey.
  • Even when there is discouragement, and feeling of disappointment several times on this path, there is no reason for hopelessness because what you are seeking is nothing but your own Self which already exists there.
  • This duality of happiness and unhappiness continues till one experiences one’s oneness with the greatest and eternal lover-God. In fact, we are always one with Him but our worldly desires create the illusion of separation.
  • The body of everyone is of course perishable. But the in-dweller is not. Don’t worry about the body, only remember Him. He is most compassionate and loving.
  • Body and mind are each other’s counterparts and they are to be disciplined to function in cooperation and harmony with each other.

Spiritual practice

  • Go on doing the practice of learning how to live in the present. In every matter there is God’s planning. Many aspects of God’s planning are understood at the late stage.
  • Everything in this cosmos happens by God’s will alone. Self-knowledge gets revealed automatically, one day, to those who continue the practice of performing their present duty whole heartedly.
  • Consider every event and situation as a boon, or as a gift, from the divine and continue to do whatever duty you have in the present. Do your duty, meditate and pray. God’s power will help you in every place, at all time, and in every situation.
  • Intellectual knowledge also has its importance, but it is not helpful for spiritual evolution, unless it becomes an inseparable part of one’s conduct and life.
  • The attainment of the real aim of life can happen to a person in any situation, in any place, and in the performance of any type of work. Remaining carefree, continue doing today’s work, wholeheartedly.
  • Experiencing the struggle between desire and discrimination is known as ‘spiritual practice’. Remembering God, continue to perform your duty. This is the only true path for your success in human life.
  • You should continue to do your duty without anxiety, with full devotion and using all the strength at your disposal. Whatever is beneficial for you will continue to happen of its own accord.
  • The person who has the attitude of living his daily life as if each day were the last day of his life, without knowing if he will see the next day’s sun, that person will achieve Self realisation, after inner maturity, in this very life.
  • Go on doing your duty, in the office and at home, and devote the rest of your time and energy in remembering God, meditation and self-study.
  • There is definitely a good result in leading one’s life diligently, honestly and with faith in God.
  • It is useless to think about what others do in the world. Keep on doing your work diligently and honestly.
  • For a bird to fly freely in the sky it is essential for it to be in good health and have properly balanced wings. Likewise, for true success of human life in the world, it is essential to have health and balance between external duties and internal spiritual evolution.
  • It is only through spiritual practice that you can attain perfection - which means that the victory of discrimination over passion. The only life that is successful is the life of the one who has attained this victory.
  • Go on walking on the path given - duty, mediation, service and love. While walking the goal starts coming nearer by itself.
  • Worldly benefits (like wealth) that are to come, will definitely come to human beings according to their destiny. The real thing in human life is the motive behind activities. If the motive is selfish, and full of greed, life results in failure.
  • This much is the duty of the human being: whatever situation comes before him, he goes on struggling with it, considering it as a gift of God.
  • How will this illusion of separateness come to an end? By remembering Him, by loving Him, by trying to see Him in all and everywhere and by doing our duty as service to Him.
  • God has given it (willpower) to every human being. Some don’t recognise it and use it and therefore decrease it, while others use it and increase it, and become masters of their own self. It is solely up to you, either to continue to remain a slave of your petty desires of worldly enjoyments, or to become the master of them, and thus to realise the true goal of human life. None but you, yourself, will be responsible for making or destroying your own life.
  • Do not be disheartened if progress on the path appears slow. Try to reform yourself as best as you can and leave the rest to God, perfection comes not by self effort but by God’s grace. But that doesn’t mean that one gives up self-effort. You have to do your part as much as you can. The rest will be done by God.
  • Try to serve others, meditate regularly, see your own vices and the virtues of others. Pray for God’s grace.
  • Do not be disheartened if you see little progress on this path because this is the only path which makes human life worthwile. All good things in life need time, patience and perseverance. And as to know oneself and realise God is the greatest adventure, highest aim, one should be ready for the highest sacrifice.
  • When you sit for meditation please remember God for his mercy only. After remembering God leave yourself to Him and let anything happen to you, in meditation, as God wants.
  • Keep on mooving on the path relentlessly. Those who keep moving on and on definitely reach their destination some day. Regularity has its own value. Self-improvement is not an easy task and it requires perseverance and regularity in efforts for a very long time.

Surrender

  • He himself removes all weakness and faults of those that surrender to Him and love Him unconditionally.
  • Human understanding and capacities are very limited. The benediction of human beings lies in that they surrender the steering of their boat into the hands of the Infinite wisdom and Power, and perform the work given to them with utmost sincerity and devotion. The Divine jurisdiction determines where the boat goes and what happens to the passengers.
  • Continue to walk in life, happily accepting the flow of life, as it is given to you by God. Go on performing the immediate duty put before you. Good and bad, right and wrong, profit and loss, should all be left to God.
  • Considering yourself simply as his employee, continue to do whatever work He has given to you. The employee has no concern with the loss and profit or with the good and bad. All that is the concern of the employer.
  • There is no place for any complaint when the Employer provides the employee with the proper food, clothing and other necessities.
  • Whatever the work the Master gives you, do it most faithfully and diligently and go on passing your life free of care. In all places and at all times God helps those who, having surrendered to him, perform the work entrusted to them for God’s sake.
  • One should devote oneself to Him and perform with the utmost sincerity only that duty which is given by him. Then He, who is also responsible for the cosmic arrangement, takes upon Himself the responsibility for those who depend on Him.
  • Man has to become a servant under His management. When somebody is a servant with a true heart, then all the responsibility goes to the Master.
  • There remains nothing except bliss in the life of the person who, leaving himself at the disposal of the Supreme Controller, does work for Him, and becomes His instrument.
  • This world is the playground for God’s Lila (play) and unless full surrender happens, man remains puzzled by events here.
  • All is done by God only and whatever He does is right. What is good or bad for man is also known to God.
  • Everyone has to suffer the consequence of his own karmas in various lives. Therefore, one should perform whatever appears to be one’s duty according to one’s discrimination. The rest should be left to him. His choice whether He makes a king or a beggar, bestows fame or infamy, or satisfy’s one’s appetite or keeps one starving.
  • Wealth and property create problems and cause grief, but only while a person considers them his own. He should truthfully consider them to be not his own but God’s, and consider himself to be their trustee. Then, when he uses them for God’s given work, wealth and property create no more problems for him.
  • When, with God’s planning, human life attains complete harmony, then this world, instead of remaining an ocean of grief, becomes a playground of happiness.
  • All that is happening to you is part of an evolutionary process. Everything will be fine if you leave yourself completely to God.
  • Ignorance alone is always the cause of accusation and complaint: wisdom lies in being grateful to Him for everything that happens. Total acceptance is the key to total peace, harmony and happiness.
  • Real human wisdom lies in happily accepting the designs of the Almighty. To live and flow in harmony with the totality of things, and events, is the secret of permanent happiness in life. It may take a long time, for anybody to become such, but it must be the goal of every wise person.
  • The real joy of life begins only when one is gladly ready to accept all things - both planned and unplanned.
  • Life is a continuous flow on which nobody can have total, or even partial, control. Wisdom lies in accepting it as it comes. But that does not mean acceptance of inactivity, effortlessness, or even passivity.
  • If you trust God and surrender yourself to Him then the best for you will happen automatically.
  • We all are tiny parts of a grand design. None of us can ever have solace and peace unless there is a complete and unconditional surrender to the Designer of the grand scheme.
  • Some try to cross the river on their own and sail their own boat themselves. There is nothing wrong with this but then it is their own responsibility to reach the shore beyond. There are others who trust some boatmen, embark on his boat, and become carefree. Then it is up to the boatman what he does.
  • Go wherever He wants to take you and do whatever He wants you to do. Let His will and His design alone prevail.
  • Total freedom comes to those only who total slavery to Him. In human life there is no other way to have permanent peace and happiness.
  • So long preferences, liking and disliking continue in life, there is no surrender. Without surrender there is no peace.
  • Surrender is not a lack of initiative, or inactivity or pessimism. Surrender is growth in wisdom regarding our foolishness about expecting desired fruits of our actions.
  • The only way to be happy is to be always ready for anything and everything. Total acceptance is the key to total happiness.
  • Only God helps everybody and one should take shelter at His feet only. Depending on anybody else is ignorance.
  • God alone is a true friend, guide, helper and lover. Leave yourself completely to Him and let him do, with you, whatever He wants to do.

The aim of life

  • Nothing less than Divinity itself should be the goal of human life. When you have set this as the only aim of your life, you will get all possible help, guidance and love from me.
  • To realise one’s true self and experience oneness with God is the only aim of human life. They alone are wise who try to achieve this aim.
  • All spiritual journey is so meaningful only because life is so precarious, risky and unpredictable. So make the best use of every moment you live and the best use is nothing except trying to know the hidden secret of life itself.
  • Nothing in human life is more valuable than to know and realise the purpose of life itself. Such souls who endeavour to realise the true nature of their existence are lucky. They are lucky even if they fail in attaining their aim sometimes. All others are doomed even when they achieve their so called worldly aims of seeking pleasures of senses, wealth, fame and the like because in the end they have nothing in life except disquietude, frustration and repentance.
  • When Self-Realisation happens in human life, then the conflict of attachment and repulsion ends for that person. After that there remains nothing in life except celebration, bliss, love and service.
  • True aim of human life is God-realisation. Life of those people only, is successful, who strive to achieve this aim. All others have a meaningless existence.
  • One has to make an effort to walk on the path which leads to the attainment of the highest aim of life. Fortunate is the one who tries to walk on this path.
  • Walk on this path with the aim that one day you will have a complete union with God. Only those who dedicate themselves solely to this aim will have a successful life. The rest will have a useless existence.
  • Human life is wasted for those who spend their time and energy on anything else than finding shelter at the feet of the Lord. He alone is a being of discrimination, whose concentration remains firmly fixed on the real goal of life.
  • If you continue to walk on this path, then you will definitely achieve the real success of human life. The aim of human life is to experience nearness to God and finally merge one’s own existence in Him.
  • The Festival of Lights gives a good example. Just as darkness in the outside world can be dispelled by lighting a physical lamp, in the same manner, inner darkness can be dispelled by experiencing spiritual light - and such is the aim of human life. Life is successful only for those who make an effort to dispel the inner darkness.
  • The real aim of Human life is to increase one’s nearness to the Divine, by removing one’s own failings.
  • Those who make efforts to walk on this path with devotion and persistence, one day they will definitely reach their goal. The greater and more important the goal is, the greater and more important must be the sacrifice.
  • Attainment of self-knowledge is the only aim that can make life successful. All other activities must be counted as failure. But one cannot attain self-knowledge by running away from one’s environment in the world. One must accept it and perform one’s duty.
  • The aim of human life should be Self-realisation and not the achievement of worldly status, respect, honour, fame and other similar values.

The seeker

  • A seeker of Truth has to pass through several stages. The problem of finding adjustment of environment, and people around, is always there.
  • Service, meditation, prayer and love enable the seeker to realise the desired aim.
  • Fortunate are they who understand and follow the indications given by nature. Fools die in pursuing the pleasures of the senses.
  • A spiritual seeker is not an imitator but he/she is a discoverer. Nobody can be truly spiritual without transformation of lust into love.
  • Patience is a great virtue for any seeker of Truth.
  • Desire for self-recognition and self-adulation is a very dangerous thing for any seeker of Truth and must always be guarded against. All selfless activity is always a great factor in everybody’s spiritual unfoldment.
  • A real spiritual seeker remains concerned with change in his/her own attitude only. He/she gives the maximum possible freedom to others to have their own pursuits, and ways of life, as they consider them best according to their own judgement.
  • Be master of things rather than things becoming your master.
  • Motto: “do the best you can and leave the rest to Him”. Be honest to yourself. Do your duty most sincerely. Pray and meditate daily. Be love-full not lustful.
  • A real seeker has to feel thankful, not only for acceptance, but also for rejection of his/her request. A seeker must know that when his/her request is rejected, his/her evolution needed rejection more than acceptance.
  • Almost all seekers in the beginning, and up to a certain stage, try to find by self-efforts, the answers and solutions to their questions and problems. But hardly any of them succeed in making any real progress, without having unshakeable faith in, and obeying in practice, the instructions of a guide.
  • Every seeker is imperfect, and the path to perfection cannot be found, by imperfect intelligence.
  • The self exists, in its infallible purity and glory for all, but only seekers realise it. The Self is a particle of the infinite Lord: “The eternal: Jivatman in this body is a particle of My own being.” Mamevaansho jeevloke jeevbhoote sanatan (Bhagavad Gita XV.7)
  • Think and feel that all you do is His work, and all relationship with human beings is through Him.
  • All worldly attachments are born of ignorance and result in suffering. Wise are they who cut off these attachments at the earliest opportunity. Inner agitation caused by any external event indicates our distance from our goal and the truth that attachment has yet to be transformed into love.
  • The only requirement from the seeker is to remain open and receptive to His working and Grace in the outer and inner world. And remember He is so compassionate and loving that He never does anything that is not beneficial.
  • When the seeker sometimes accuses Him for certain happenings the seeker fails in correctly understanding the meaning and implication of those happenings.
  • A spiritual seeker has to cultivate many things in oneself before permanent peace dawns upon her/him.

True love

  • Beyond a certain stage on the spiritual path nobody can evolve without opening up to unconditional love. And only a few people know what love really is. Most of the people mistake lust, infatuation, liking, attachment and several other such desires born of ego for love.
  • Beginning of true love in life is also the beginning of an end to all human miseries. When one has love, life becomes a festival.
  • In true love neither photo nor physical presence (of a Guide/Guru) are needed, thought they are beneficial up to a certain stage of development. Step - by - step you will also reach that stage one day, at which perennial and impersonal “love fountain” starts flowing without which human life is meaningless.
  • Love whenever it is real is whole and whole is holy. True love has no place for complaint or murmur.
  • So far there is complaint in life there is no true love. When true love emerges in life there remains no place for any complaint.
  • May the fountain of eternal “love” - the Divine - open up in you in your this very life cycle.

True Nature

  • A fish is born in water, lives in water, eats and drinks water, breathes in water, swims in water, and in fact is made largely of water itself. One can only smile or laugh if one hears the fish saying that it is thirsty for water.
  • Psychologists are right when they say that elements like anger, envy, hate, dislikes and lust etc. are natural in human life. But poor psychologists do not know that these elements of animal nature are on the surface of our existence and beneath them is hidden our divine, spiritual nature and true human dignity lies in transcending the animal instincts and realising our divine nature which is eternal, imperishable, birthless and deathless, devoid of ignorance and full of peace, harmony, compassion, love and happiness.

True spirituality

  • Understanding or knowing only mentally that you are the “self” is of no use in true spirituality. You have to experience the Self, realise the Self existentially. Simple mental information is hardly of any use here.
  • Even the best of books serve little purpose. A life experience is needed and only a living Master (one who has himself/herself realised the Self) is of real use and help in this field.
  • A truly spiritual man or a woman is one who is fully calm within and fully active outside. Inner peace and calmness, and outer activity and dexterity in work must exist simultaneously.
  • For true spiritual growth a balance at the individual level must be found out between inner growth and work in the world. Meditation and work must be become supplementary to each other.’ Energy’ is one and the same exists inside and outside of the seeker.
  • Tradition makes one 'religious' while 'spirituality' happens by enlightenment which in its turn comes about not by following tradition but by using the best essence of any tradition in finding the individual path of the seeker.
  • Nobody can be truly spiritual without rising above the mundane desires of flesh and cravings of mind. The path of true spirituality is for the most daring ones only.
  • Spirituality is neither emotionality nor intellectuality but nobody can become truly spiritual without passing through and growing beyond emotions as well as intellectualism.
  • Through transcendence, bliss or anad (our real but dormant nature) becomes a permanent way of life. Love, peace and harmony become the very nature of human existence.

Truth

  • It takes time for unfoldment of Truth in us. The important thing is perseverance, patience and an irrepressible desire for self improvement.
  • Try to have maximum possible harmony in thoughts, words and deeds. Nothing worthwhile happens without truth.
  • Truth and Truth only liberates and Truth is another name for God. Let there be Truth in actions, words and thoughts. Know your own Self, love God and serve the world. May He enlighten your path.

World

  • He/she can’t cut-off totally from others and yet he/she can’t adopt the same pattern of life as the world around usually has. By constant discrimination and vigilance the seeker has to tread over the path. No doubt there are sometimes difficult situations but God’s helping hand is undoubtedly there.
  • The world around us is nothing but manifestation of the same one Eternal reality of which we ourselves are also part. Harmony between the part and the whole is indicative of true growth and perfection. They alone are wise who are able to realise permanency in the midst of perishing phenomenon.
  • Only he or she is spiritual who is in the world but not of the world. Like the petal of the lotus in water - there is water all around but the petal remains unsullied by it. You should be in the world but the world should not be in you.
  • Temporary and transient things of the world can never give anybody permanent peace and happiness. Only the experience of eternal ‘TRUTH’ - the hidden divine within us can give eternal peace.
  • A more spiritually oriented world is a happier world - a world free of conflicts, miseries, violence and wars. Life is such an affair full of uncertainties and vicissitudes, that the only wise thing in it for intelligent human beings is to continuously and indefatigably go on making efforts for achieving its true aim of Self-Realisation.
  • No person in the world can be really peaceful and happy without exploring and experiencing one’s own divinity hidden in one’s own existence.
  • The world by and large is such, that the human species for long remains not only narrowly selfish and inconsiderate, but mean and jealous also. We have no option but to put up with this sort of world around us and unavoidably we have to struggle, adjust and grow in the milieu God has given.
  • In this path our critics prove greater friends and helpers than those who appreciate us. Criticism, sarcasm and disapproval make us to react and it is at that time that the worst hidden in us comes to surface and consciousness and thus our worst prove to be our best friends and benefactor by helping us to see our hidden unconscious and thereby for weeding out the evil traits forever. We should, therefore, be thankful to our critics.
  • Mankind is in dire need of change in outlook towards life and its priorities. Time is coming for a happy meeting of eastern spiritual ecstasy and western material efficiency. In the successful union of eastern wisdom and western science is hidden the future of all mankind.

Worldly attractions and desires

  • Our animal passions and worldly cravings are the barriers that keep us away from that deepest and loftiest of all experiences.
  • These mundane attractions continue to persist for a long time in seekers despire their best efforts to get rid of them. But ultimately they have to go away because they cant withstand the infinite strength of permanent Divine love.
  • Don’t give much attention and importance to worldly attractions if they are persistent. They are petty elements in life and petty matters don’t deserve undue attention. Better is to ignore them. Pay attention more to duty, meditation, service, love and prayer. Don’t struggle with darkness, light the candle.
  • Unless a real detachment develops in the individual towards physicality, and allurement of material things, there is no beginning of spirituality worth its name. Human mind is so treacherous in deceiving, that not to fall a prey to its innumerable deceptions, is one of the hardest things in life.
  • Let us learn to be thankful for all that He gave us, rather than complain for what we think we lack, and should have. In fact, it is His kindness that he does not fulfil all our desires, because he knows, and we don’t know, the folly of many of our desires.
  • Our peace and happiness are in no manner related to wealth and material means at our disposal. All our plans for happiness and peace, based on our calculation of money at our disposal, are brought to naught by any unforeseen and unpredictable circumstances and events, any day.
  • The unknown always remains a part of human life. While money generates a sense of security, and possibility of comfort, it can never give peace.
  • Sense of security and comfort are based on factors external to us, while peace exists in us. We have simply to unearth it from within us. Spirituality is the science of unearthing, or discovering, that from within our own existence which is always there.
  • Sex instinct is the strongest; one should neither fight with it nor be a victim to it. Neither fight and suppression, nor enjoyment, solves the problem. One has to channel, transform and sublimate it into pure love. Artistic and cultural activity helps a lot in claiming and transforming the sexual urge.
  • May the fountain of eternal love - the Divine - open up in you, in this life cycle.
  • Human life is not meant for trifles and indulgences in sensual pursuits. Those who waste this most precious opportunity of human existence, in such foolish things, have nothing in the end except frustration, anguish and repentance.
